I became a physical therapist because I love helping people overcome their challenges and emerge from them a stronger person. I would enjoy putting my experience to work on your behalf.

Jill Traver

PT, MSPT, COMT, CSCS, CEAs,CERT. DN

Jill Traver is the founder of In Motion Physical Therapy. Jill has two decades of experience in the profession, where her specialized training and experience is geared towards a literal "hands-on" approach to physical therapy. She enjoys treating all ages, professions and levels of impairment. Jill especially enjoys working with athletes, and she welcomes the unique challenges of patients who live with chronic pain.

Education

She received her Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science from the University of Iowa and attended Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis for her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy.  At Washington University, Jill studied the Sahrman approach, which laid the foundation for her subsequent career in outpatient orthopedic environments.  This method provides both a diagnostic tool focusing on identifying movement impairment, and a means to treat this impairment through therapeutic exercise and corrective alignment.

Certifications

Jill holds a Strength and Conditioning Certification.  She has always loved working with athletes and designing training programs. This arises from her personal background in volleyball, softball, basketball, marathon running and Ironman triathlon, as well as years of treating athletes of all levels and abilities.

She has also completed her Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialty Certification, which allows her to analyze workstations of office-based employees and manual laborers. This certification gives Jill the ability to analyze posture and body mechanics and to address health issues caused by repetitive stress.

Jill is especially proud of her certification in Orthopedic Manual Therapist through Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Seminars.  This highly-specialized diagnostic and treatment certification requires extensive coursework, qualifying examinations and regular continuing education and re-certification.  It allows Jill to provide an approach to physical therapy that focuses not only on exercises, but also on joint mobilization and manipulation.

To this end, Jill has become certified in Active Release Therapy (ART)-Whole Body to focus on the soft tissue restrictions that occur with repetitive movements or holding positions for extended periods of time. This approach may allow for positive results in less time, as well as improvement in patients who have not benefitted from more traditional exercise programs.

Special Areas of Treatment

In addition to these certifications, Jill has also pursued a number of special areas of treatment.  These include, but are not limited to, dry needling, Graston Technique, video movement analysis for runners and cyclists, and bike fitting.

History

Jill has lived in Florida since 2010. She is a Florida transplant who practiced in Chicago for 12 years in outpatient facilities, where she managed as many as 18 clinics at a time.

Family Life

Outside work, she enjoys traveling, running and spending time with her husband Dan. They have two dogs. Mira is an active German Shepherd puppy in training to be a therapy dog. Bear is an English Bulldog who is extremely snuggly.
